HAWORTH AND OXENHOPE DISTRICT BRIDLEWAYS GROUP
January 2008
Happy New Year everyone and let’s hope for weather that doesn’t curtail our activities so much this year. The Bridleways new year resolution is to keep the website up to date for you and produce more frequent newsletters. We weren’t very good on that score in 2007. At the AGM in November, several committee members weren’t able to stand again, so your committee is rather depleted this year, and because of this we will only be running three rides in 2008. Any offers of help would be gratefully received and it is still not too late to volunteer if you would like to be on your committee. New members always come with new ideas and enthusiasm.

By the time you receive this newsletter, a public inquiry will have been held at the Town Hall in Keighley about track 206 which runs from near the Lamb in Oxenhope over the moor to Sawood. The landowner has applied to have it downgraded to footpath, but Sue Hogg of the South Pennine Packhorse Trails Trust and this committee have put in an objection. We will be able to tell you what happened at the January monthly meeting.
The first of our mounting blocks has been put in position, thanks to the efforts of David O’Neill and we have had some suggestions for the siting of the other four. Is there a gate where YOU always have to get off and where a mounting block would help.
