Ride Report

Spring Ride
Sunday 26th April 2008

On a very wet Sunday 10 riders set off in various groups from Jane's stables in Cullingworth on our Spring Ride. This ride takes in part of the New Northern Trail and the views from the top of the large viaduct between Cullingworth and Harden were spectacular. We rode around the quiet lanes and bridletracks of Cullingworth, Harecroft, Wilsden and Harden and Jane met our group in St Ives for refreshments. By the time we arrived at St Ives the rain had stopped and there was a picnic table with the seat well placed for re-mounting.

We had a good canter over Harden Moor and then rode round the bridletracks at Thwaites and along the top of Woodhouse in Keighley back along Hainworth Moor Bottom to Barcroft at Cross Roads. Here the track took us back over the fields to Cullingworth where we rejoined the Northern Trail to ride back to Jane's or home. In my case I rode back to Jane's for a cup of tes and yet more chocolate bars.

We were in 3 groups and Jane did well to find all of us at some stage of the ride for drinks. It was a well organised ride and I was pleased that I had braved the weather at the beginning because it was a great ride and well worth it.
